Crystal System : Cubic (3 Possibilities)

1) Space Lattice Type : Simple or primitive cubic

Edge Lengths:  a = b = c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : Polonium (Po)

 



2) Space Lattice Type : Body Centred cubic

Edge Lengths:  a = b = c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : Iron (Fe), Rubidium (Rb), Sodium (Na), Titanium (Ti), Tungsten (W), Uranium (U), Zirconium (Zr)

3) Space Lattice Type : Body Centred cubic


Edge Lengths:  a = b = c



Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : Copper (Cu), Aluminium (Al), Nickel (Ni), Gold (Au), Silver (Ag), Platinum (Pt)

 

Crystal System : Tetragonal (2 Possibilities)

1) Space Lattice Type : Simple or primitive Tetragonal


Edge Lengths:  a = b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°



Examples : SnO2

 

2) Space Lattice Type : Body Centred Teragonal

Edge Lengths:  a = b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°



Examples : Ti, O2, CaSO4

 

Crystal System : Orthorhombic (4 Possibilities)

1) Space Lattice Type : Simple or primitive orthorhombic


Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : Rhombic sulphur



 

2) Space Lattice Type : Body Centred orthorhombic

Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°



Examples : KNO3

 

3) Space Lattice Type : Face Centred orthorhombic


Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : BaSO4

 



4) Space Lattice Type : End Centred orthorhombic


Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c

Angles : α = β = γ = 90°

Examples : MgSO4, 7H2O

1) Space Lattice Type : Simple or primitive monoclinic

Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c

Angles : α =γ = 90° and  β ≠ 90°

Examples : Monoclinic sulphur

 

 2) Space Lattice Type : End Centred monoclinic


Edge Lengths:  a ≠ b ≠ c



Angles : α =γ = 90° and  β ≠ 90°

Examples : Na2SO4. 10H2O
